Based in Cambridge, this is an excellent
opportunity for an experienced Electronic Design Engineer to join
an exciting team of engineers developing new solutions within the
automotive and defence arena. You will have a strong technical
background with an ability to communicate across the board.
Key responsibilities will include developing high performance
electronic solutions for motorsport and defence markets. Such
developments will typically include custom engine/chassis control
and data acquisition systems for use in extremely harsh
environments.
Specific Responsibilities
The role shall include the following responsibilities:
- Requirements capture and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
- Hands on schematic capture, design validation, testing, project management.
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or development
- Interface with manufacturers of final product to ensure efficient design for manufacture.
Skills, Qualifications & Attributes
A degree or equivalent level of knowledge or experience in
electronic engineering or a related subject.
Demonstrable experience within an engineering position.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Able to clearly formulate and communicate complex design concepts.
- Used to working within a recognized quality system.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment
Analogue and Power Electronics Skills
Essential
- Ability to design analogue signal conditioning and dc power supply circuitry.
- Experience of circuit simulation and Orcad schematic design entry.
- Able to test, qualify and document designs.
- Motor Control and/or Control Theory
- Understanding of safety and reliability concepts in
designs.
Understanding of thermal issues associated with electronic systems.

Digital Design Skills
Essential:
- Digital schematic design, including ADC and memory interfacing
- Experience in designs including 32bit uP, microcontrollers and FPGAs.
- Knowledge of RS232, CAN and Ethernet design approaches.
Beneficial
- Knowledge of automotive and military data busses (LIN, MIL CAN, etc)
- Knowledge of interfacing to removable storage devices ( SD, CF, USB)
- Experience with Freescale Power PC
