Cosworth is experienced in supplying flight data recording solutions for the training of test pilots.

Our electronics solutions are used by a number of civil and military Test Pilot Schools around the world where the ability to offload and evaluate data from a test sortie within a matter of minutes ensures an effective debrief while the manoeuvre is fresh in the minds of student and instructor.

Key featuresData acquisition solutions from Cosworth are small, compact and non-intrusive. They are all easy to install in customer aircraft and the ability to move them easily from platform to platform is a vital factor when carrying out test programmes on existing production aircraft. They are also capable of interfacing with both analogue and digital systems.

• Cosworth has a number of real time display options available for fitment in the aircraft including pilot displays and flight test engineers' work stations. Pilot displays can interface with the onboard maths capability of our Pi Sigma family of loggers to allow onboard calculations and display of on-condition to the pilot during the manoeuvre, therefore speeding up the test sortie and ensuring the data recorded is valid prior to even landing.
  
  
• Using the clear and powerful abilities of our Pi Toolbox analysis suite, analysis screens and briefing displays can all be preconfigured. Reports generated with Pi Toolbox Lite allow students to have their own copies of flights for future analysis. Students can then build their own flight test screens and customise reports to their own preferences. Pi Toolbox enables fast comparison overlays of data from multiple flights as well as offering the ultimate capability of frame by frame analysis synchronised with video. Instructor and student manoeuvres can be overlaid and the differences compared on a data point to data point basis.
  
  
• The Pi VIDS II video recording system gives the visual edge to data analysis, recording video and audio images as MPEG-2. VIDS II automatically synchronises the video with
  the recorded data at offload to allow immediate analysis in Pi Toolbox.
  
  
• Our battery-powered logger is an ideal tool for test pilots and students alike. Easily portable from aircraft to aircraft, it allows the pilot to record flights even on aircraft not
  fitted with flight test instrumentation. It is already earning a strong following as the new personal flight test logbook.
