Jog Lall
Group Sales & Marketing DirectorA corporate career in sales and marketing weren't always part of Jog Lall's early ambition. At 18 he started a company with his younger brother, manufacturing clothes for high street stores. Their company took £250,000 in its first year of trading. Despite the early success, the pressure of working 24/7 taught him a valuable lesson - that he could expend the same energy for better returns.
After completing his studies in Applied Chemistry at the University of Huddersfield, Lall began his career as a Sales and Marketing Assistant with BIP Chemicals, moving through the ranks at a variety of businesses as he developed his commercial skills and experience. Before joining Cosworth Group five years ago, Lall was the Sales and Marketing Director for Delphi, a global supplier of electronics and technologies for automotive markets.
Lall's role at Cosworth is to engage and liaise with potential customers and partners, showing them what Cosworth can do for their business. As an ambassador for Cosworth as well as an evangelist, Loll, represents Cosworth right up until a deal is done with the client. "I get a real buzz out of selling, and completing the deal. That's what really drives me. There's a great satisfaction from landing a deal and recognising that other people will benefit from it. Every deal has a positive effect on the company, whether it is creating jobs or contributing to the diversification strategy."
Cosworth's track record and reputation helps to open doors to a range of new clients and has enabled Cosworth to use technologies and expertise learned in motor-racing to benefit clients in aerospace, defence, energy and automotive sectors. "I think it is a great privilege to be associated with Cosworth Group, which is one of the greatest engineering companies in the world. It's the Dolce and Gabbana of engineering. Our clients come from diverse markets but they share the need to win - whether that's a race to launch a new product or a sporting competition. The brand Cosworth is a great door opener, because it is a brand associated with success."
Behind the scenes at Cosworth, Lall is also responsible for making sure the product specification reflects the customers' need and is value for money. He is tasked with making sure the propositions for all services and products are packaged well, so Cosworth can maximise their offer, making it more attractive to the customer. Lall travels to all corners of the world to be face to face with the customers. Lall said the future for Cosworth was a bright one, and the current double digit growth rate was expected to continue for the next three to five years.
